Occupy Wall Street, October 2011

On October 23, 2011, the Midtown Shule occupied Wall Street.

After a kid-friendly discussion in a nearby park, we made signs and marched to Zuccotti Park, where children explored the site and spoke with protesters.

Here’s a parent’s e-mail after the event:

"This is the first time in years that I've participated in something in organized Jewish life that hasn't felt contrived (like phony-baloney language at Seders about welcoming the poor to our table), or irrelevantly tied to a chant-and-repeat liturgy. This was a "great" day filled with real learning for the kids -- and it honored the Workmen’s Circle's roots." -- Mitch
